Leonhard Grabe

Bio

I am a postdoctoral researcher at the Department Corporate Development at the University of Cologne and an external lecturer in managerial accounting at the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management. I received my PhD in Business Administration from the University of Cologne in 2026, advised by Dirk Sliwka and Judith Künneke.

My research lies at the intersection of managerial accounting and personnel economics. I study how management controls, incentives, and supervisors shape employees' skill development and performance. To answer these questions, I partner with firms and public organizations to run field experiments and combine them with administrative records and survey data. I am a co-founder of the Cologne Evidence to Action Lab (CEAL), and I hold a research fellowship for Interdisciplinary Science and Transfer from the Joachim Herz Stiftung.
